Art Analysis
Interlocking grid of primary colors
This square composition presents a dense arrangement of geometric shapes that fill the entire surface. Thick horizontal and vertical bars act as anchors for the image, creating a structured framework. Within and around these bars, smaller squares, rectangles, and triangles overlap to form a tight grid. The view is flat and direct, looking straight down at the shapes without any sense of distance or depth. The colors—red, orange, green, blue, and purple—stand out against a plain white background, and each colored shape has a mottled, uneven texture.
The eye moves across the surface following thin lines and small circles that are scattered from the center out to the edges. While the large bars provide a sense of order, the smaller elements break up the straight lines. Some shapes appear to sit on top of others, though everything remains on a single flat plane. This arrangement builds on the artist's description of a geometric modern abstract pattern by showing how many different shapes can fit together into one crowded, unified space.
