Art Analysis
Overlapping shapes and grainy tones
This square composition is built from a dense layer of geometric forms that stretch to every edge. Large semicircles and triangles anchor the top, middle, and bottom sections, while smaller circles and thin, straight lines fill the remaining gaps. Because the shapes are spread evenly across the flat surface, the eye moves across the entire image rather than resting on one specific area. The muted reds, blues, greens, yellows, and purples are applied with a mottled, grainy texture that covers every part of the work.
Shelly Bremmer builds this modern abstract pattern by stacking rectangles and triangles behind and on top of one another. The thin lines act as connectors between the larger, solid shapes, cutting through the muted colors at various angles. While some forms are bold and wide, others are narrow slivers that peek out from underneath the primary layers. This arrangement creates a busy, two-dimensional field where every shape shares the same flat perspective.
