This piece marks a pivotal shift in Deeney’s practice, where the screen replaces the canvas and digital software becomes the primary medium. By editing photographs of his original paintings, he moves beyond the need for representational accuracy, instead focusing on the rhythmic potential of the image. The result is a paradoxical space where the thick, expressive application of paint is not lost but amplified through digital manipulation, retaining a sense of physical history within a virtual environment.

Through a process of layering, reflecting, and rotating, Deeney builds a complex visual architecture that invites the viewer to gaze into a mesmerizing abstract void. The landscape orientation emphasizes the expansive nature of these shapes, creating a sense of scale that feels larger than the frame. It is a study in digital alchemy, where the remnants of a physical painting are reborn as a vibrant, geometric exploration of the subconscious.
