In this work, Carla Daly strips away the rigid formality of traditional map-making to reveal a landscape filled with personality. The British Isles are rendered with soft edges and a bright palette, populated by small, illustrative details that suggest a sense of place through storytelling rather than strict coordinates. By flattening the perspective and focusing on iconic silhouettes, Daly creates a visual shorthand for the region that feels both familiar and new.

The squared orientation of the piece anchors the sprawling geography into a stable, graphic frame. This structural choice allows the eye to wander across the islands and surrounding waters, discovering tucked-away illustrations that celebrate the spirit of the coastlines. It is a functional piece of art that trades technical precision for a warm, approachable sense of wonder.
