In this portrait-oriented landscape, Kosunen strips the forest back to its most energetic elements, using a bold palette to define the transition from day to night. The composition relies on the interplay of vertical forms and dappled light, suggesting the verticality of ancient trees without needing to render every leaf. It is a study of how color can mimic the heat of the sun and the cooling shadows of the undergrowth simultaneously.

By leaning into an abstract approach, the artist emphasizes the emotional resonance of nature over literal representation. The heavy application of pigment and the deliberate arrangement of shapes create a sense of depth and movement, inviting the viewer to step into a woods that feels both familiar and vibrantly new. This piece serves as a lively window into a world where the landscape is defined by its internal glow.
