Art Analysis
From the artist, Branka Kodžoman
A study in weightless rest and blue-hued stillness.
In this portrait-oriented work, Kodžoman explores the architecture of a private moment. The composition relies on a minimal arrangement of forms, using a gentle palette to describe a figure reclining by the pool. Rather than focusing on the activity of swimming, the artist centers on the stillness that follows, capturing a sense of calm that feels both heavy with relaxation and light with the blue of the water.
The brushwork is fluid and illustrative, favoring a modern approach to figurative art where atmosphere takes precedence over realism. By stripping away unnecessary background noise, the piece emphasizes the solitary harmony of the subject. The classic frame serves to ground these soft textures, turning a fleeting afternoon rest into a permanent observation of poise and quietude.
The artwork captures a specific sense of physical and mental drift, where the figure seems to float at the edge of the water.
The artist uses the fewest possible marks to suggest a complete and recognizable human presence.
Soft, visible textures create a hazy, dreamlike quality that mirrors the slow pace of a day spent by the pool.
