In this squared composition, Carla Daly explores the rhythmic architecture of a seaside village blanketed in snow. The houses are arranged with a playful sense of perspective, their vibrant facades providing a cheerful contrast to the cool, muted tones of the harbor and the winter sky. Every roofline and window suggests a lived-in history, turning a cold landscape into an inviting sanctuary of color.

The balance of the square format centers the viewer’s attention on the density of the town, emphasizing the way the buildings huddle together for warmth. The water sits heavy and calm in the foreground, acting as a mirror for the quietude of a town in its off-season. It is a study of how light interacts with frost and how human habitation can feel like a natural extension of the rugged, snowy coastline.
