In this piece, Carla Daly explores the graphic potential of the tropics through a structured, squared lens. The flamingos are rendered with a focus on silhouette and posture, their pink forms providing a soft counterpoint to the repetitive, textured shapes of the pineapples. By flattening the perspective, Daly emphasizes the interaction of color and line, turning familiar natural elements into a cohesive decorative pattern.

The choice of a square orientation anchors the whimsical subject matter, giving the lively pinks and greens a sense of deliberate order. Each element is placed with an eye for balance, ensuring that the negative space works just as hard as the subjects themselves. It is a study in cheerfulness and symmetry, finding a steady pulse in the vibrant colors of an island landscape.
