In this portrait-oriented study, Pröpper explores the rhythmic verticality of a forest as it recedes into a dense, hazy background. The composition draws the eye along a narrow path, emphasizing the height of the trees and the heavy, moisture-laden air that settles between the branches. By focusing on the subtle gradients of light and shadow, the artist reveals the textured complexity of the undergrowth and the skeletal silhouettes of the canopy.

The photograph avoids the wide-angle spectacle of traditional vistas, opting instead for an intimate, grounded perspective on the landscape. The choice of a portrait orientation heightens the sense of being enclosed within the woods, turning a simple walk through nature into a contemplative encounter with the elements. There is a tactile quality to the mist, suggesting a world that is both vast and deeply private.
