The composition centers on the iconic, conical silhouette of Kirkjufell, framed by the expansive horizontal reach of the Arctic horizon. The artist utilizes the low-hanging winter sun to cast a pale, rhythmic glow across the snow-dusted terrain, contrasting the sharp, dark ridges of the peak with the fluid, frozen textures of the surrounding water and land.

By choosing a landscape orientation, the work emphasizes the vastness of the Icelandic wilderness, allowing the eye to wander from the jagged mountain face to the distant, cooling sky. The interplay of shadow and light suggests a moment of profound quiet, where the natural world feels both immense and intimately observed in its most rugged state.
