In this portrait-oriented drawing, EC Mazur explores the dramatic interplay of light and dark within a classic fairytale motif. By utilizing a monochrome palette, the artist emphasizes the structural geometry of the castle’s spires and battlements against the soft, diffused glow of a moonlit atmosphere. The absence of color directs the eye toward the fine lines and textural details that give the fortification its sense of ancient permanence.

The vertical composition enhances the height of the architecture, making the towers appear to reach toward the celestial light source. This approach creates a quiet, contemplative mood, inviting the viewer to look past the familiar narrative of a castle and instead appreciate the stark beauty of form and shadow. The work remains grounded in the traditional medium of drawing, celebrating the deliberate marks that build depth within a two-tone world.
