From the artist, Branka Kodžoman
Sculptural fruit forms in a rhythmic botanical landscape
In this modern still life, Kodžoman reimagines the traditional fruit bowl as a study of simplified forms and bold outlines. A singular, statuesque pear stands in dialogue with two rounded oranges, their shapes anchored by tall, slender leafy stems that draw the eye upward. The composition relies on a deliberate balance, using a muted green and vibrant orange backdrop to create a sense of depth without cluttering the visual field.
The work draws heavily on mid-century aesthetics, favoring clean silhouettes and a restricted color palette over intricate detail. By stripping the botanical elements down to their essential curves, the artist highlights the natural geometry of the subjects. The result is a fresh, graphic interpretation of nature that emphasizes the tactile relationship between the fruit and the surrounding foliage.
This piece embodies the minimalist spirit of the era, favoring clarity, order, and the rejection of decorative flourish.
Loose, freehand forms interact with the edges of the frame to create a balanced yet unpredictable visual field.
The piece focuses on the quiet arrangement of everyday objects, emphasizing shape and color over intricate detail.
