Art Analysis
From the artist, Melanie Viola
Central axis of grey and yellow
The composition follows a vertical path down the middle of a white background, leaving the sides mostly clear. At the top, a round yellow shape sits against a wide grey wash. Below this, four grey bars stand upright, covered by a thin layer of yellow and messy scribbled marks. A single black line curves through the middle, acting as a link between the upper and lower sections.
The colors stay within a limited range of grey and pale yellow. While the top section uses a soft, circular form, the bottom is built from straight, vertical blocks. The thin black line is the only dark element, winding loosely between the heavier washes of color. This piece follows the artist's focus on a minimalistic approach using specific trend colors and simple brushstrokes.
This artwork is the third entry in a series that includes Watercolor Shapes No. 1, all sharing the same color scheme and abstract style.
