In this portrait-oriented composition, Daly focuses on the specific atmosphere of a sun-drenched pool deck. The work utilizes bold color blocks and clean lines to define the architecture of leisure, capturing the way light interacts with the surface of the water. There is a sense of quietude in the arrangement, emphasizing the physical sensation of heat and the refreshing clarity of a private oasis.

The vertical framing draws the eye through the layers of the scene, from the hard edges of the surrounding environment to the fluid, inviting depths of the pool. By stripping away unnecessary detail, the artist highlights the essential shapes and tones that define the California landscape, resulting in a graphic and grounded interpretation of a classic summer moment.
