The artist employs a bold palette knife technique to sculpt the atmosphere, layering thick ribbons of golden yellow and fiery orange against a backdrop of soft peach. These heavy applications of paint create a tactile surface that mimics the vibrating intensity of the sun’s final moments above the horizon. Dark, moody clouds in slate and charcoal cut across the upper frame, providing a sharp, dramatic counterpoint to the radiant light below.

In the distance, the composition settles into rolling mountain peaks rendered in cool blues and greens. This shift in color and texture creates a vast sense of open space, grounding the energetic sky with a stable, rhythmic landscape. The squared orientation and classic framing focus the viewer’s eye on the interplay between the textured, modern impressionist strokes and the quiet, expansive scale of the natural world.
