In this work, Ristova deconstructs the traditional grid, presenting a series of checkerboard motifs that vary in density and weight. The portrait orientation emphasizes a vertical progression, guiding the viewer through a sequence of optical shifts where the classic black-and-white logic begins to vibrate with its own internal energy.

By manipulating the scale of each individual square, the artist creates a sense of depth and movement within a flat plane. The repetition of the pattern does not lead to monotony; instead, it highlights the subtle differences in how light and space are perceived when a familiar form is subjected to intentional variation.
