Art Analysis
A digital cartography of raw geological texture
In Textured Earth, Saputra moves away from smooth digital gradients to explore the friction and depth of organic surfaces. The composition functions as an aerial meditation on land, where every digital brushstroke suggests the physical accumulation of minerals and silt. By focusing on the interplay of shadow and highlight, the artist recreates the sensory experience of touching raw terrain, grounding the viewer in a quiet, geological stillness.
Framed within a portrait orientation, the work adopts a Scandi-inspired restraint that balances its heavy textures with a clean, minimalist sensibility. The interplay of modern digital techniques and classic presentation creates a bridge between the ancient patterns of the earth and the sleek aesthetics of a modern interior. It is a study of complexity found in simple, natural forms, rendered with a focus on balance and tactile honesty.
The artist uses the heavy body of acrylic paint to create a layered, textured surface that obscures and reveals the subject.
The artist uses 3D rendering to sculpt the rugged mountains and riverbeds, giving the desert landscape a tactile, physical presence.
The composition reflects a Scandi aesthetic through its clean lines and focus on the elemental simplicity of the northern landscape.
