In this landscape-oriented digital work, Thies explores the architecture of the subconscious through the iconography of chess. The piece utilizes the precision of digital tools to create sharp, impossible geometries, placing familiar game pieces within a vast, surreal expanse that defies traditional perspective. The composition invites the viewer to consider the quiet intensity of a match played not on a table, but within the boundless theater of the mind.

By leaning into the surrealist tradition, the artist strips away the mundane context of the game, leaving behind a meditative study of form and space. The horizontal format emphasizes the scale of this dreamscape, allowing the eye to wander across a terrain where strategy becomes a physical journey. It is a focused exploration of balance and intellect, rendered with a clarity that makes the fantastic feel strangely tangible.
