Carla Daly approaches the Sunshine State Map as a colorful exploration of regional identity, using a vertical composition to guide the eye through Florida’s unique terrain. The work balances geographic recognition with a lighthearted aesthetic, populating the map with visual cues that evoke the bright, breezy atmosphere of the coast and the interior.

By utilizing a portrait orientation, Daly emphasizes the long, peninsula shape of the land, allowing the surrounding waters and coastal details to frame the central subject. The result is a piece that functions as both a navigational charm and a cheerful tribute to the sun-drenched spirit of the south, rendered with a focus on approachable, graphic storytelling.
