In this landscape, the artist employs a bold impasto technique to give the autumn foliage a physical presence, where golden-yellow and amber leaves appear to weight the branches with their heavy, textured application. The composition follows a calm river as it snakes through the dense thicket, its surface acting as a mirror for both the pale sky above and the saturated warmth of the surrounding woods. A soft haze settles in the background, providing a sense of atmospheric depth that contrasts with the sharp, sun-dappled details of the foreground riverbanks.

The work focuses on the specific light of the wilderness at its peak, using the physical depth of the paint to catch shadows and highlights. By emphasizing the quiet beauty of the woodland floor and the rhythmic flow of the water, the piece captures a moment of deep serenity. The inclusion of a classic frame anchors the vibrant, energetic brushwork, grounding the ethereal quality of the distant mist within a structured, traditional presentation.
