Lettering over patterned clouds
This black and white photograph is organized into horizontal layers, starting with the water and a thin line of trees at the bottom. The city skyline sits low in the frame, occupying only the lower third. Above the buildings, a vast sky filled with small, rounded cloud patterns dominates the remaining two-thirds of the image. Large, thin capital letters spelling out the city name are centered over these clouds, creating a clear focal layer in the upper half of the composition.
The view from the peninsula mentioned by the artist provides a wide perspective where the tall buildings appear as a dense cluster behind the water. Small details emerge upon closer inspection, such as a single sailboat on the left and a long, thin boat carrying figures in the center. These small elements on the water contrast with the large, steady shapes of the skyscrapers and the repeating textures in the sky.
