Art Analysis
The delicate architecture of light and layered paper.
This piece functions as a study in contrast and structural harmony. By layering physical or digital planes, Böhmer creates a sense of tactile depth that invites the eye to wander through overlapping edges and cast shadows. The portrait orientation emphasizes a vertical climb, drawing focus to the way light defines the boundaries between solid matter and empty space.
The composition relies on a restrained palette and clean lines to evoke a sense of calm. There is a rhythmic quality to the arrangement, suggesting a moment of pause where the physical properties of paper—its opacity, its thinness, and its ability to catch the light—become the primary subjects of the work.
The artist uses simplified forms and a non-literal palette to convey the feeling of a city rather than its exact likeness.
A sharp focus on the interplay between shadowed depths and the soft light illuminating the flower petals.
By focusing on a single central object and a limited color story, the piece achieves a clean and uncluttered visual impact.
