Art Analysis
The quiet architecture of balanced geometric forms
In this work, Ristova focuses on the interaction of simplified forms, stripping away the superfluous to reveal the core architecture of the image. The vertical orientation emphasizes a sense of upward growth and stability, allowing the viewer to trace the relationship between each distinct shape as they stack and lean against one another.
The palette and texture work in tandem to ground the abstract elements, giving the flat planes a tactile presence. By prioritizing the arrangement of these fundamental visual components, Ristova invites a meditative observation of how balance and proportion can evoke a feeling of grounded stillness within a frame.
The portrait orientation focuses the viewer's attention on the closeness of the subjects, heightening the sense of a private world.
The artist uses simplified forms and a non-literal palette to convey the feeling of a city rather than its exact likeness.
A sense of grounded stability is achieved through the careful alignment of irregular shapes within the upright frame.
