Art Analysis
Dashed textures and curving lines
This vertical composition organizes several smooth, rounded shapes and thin lines against a light beige background. A large area in the upper left stands out because it is filled with many small, dark grey horizontal dashes, creating a textured appearance that contrasts with the solid, muted tan and grey shapes. These solid forms are placed near the corners and edges, while two thin black lines sweep across the right side of the image and cross over each other near the bottom center.
The arrangement follows the minimalistic graphic art style described by Melanie Viola. While the dashed shape occupies the most space, the thin lines provide a sense of movement as they curve from the top right toward the middle. The muted tones of tan and grey remain consistent across the different forms, keeping the focus on the variety of shapes and the density of the small horizontal marks.
This piece is part of a series that includes Mid-Century Modern No. 1 | brown and Mid-Century Modern No. 2 | brown, continuing the artist's focus on abstract shapes and neutral colors.
