In this work, Marja van den Hurk explores the depth and texture of a thriving garden, utilizing a squared orientation to create a sense of balanced abundance. The composition focuses on the interplay of various leaf shapes and shades of green, suggesting a hidden gallery where the plants themselves are the primary subjects. By filling the frame entirely with foliage, the artist removes the horizon, pulling the viewer directly into the heart of the undergrowth.

The repetition of botanical motifs creates a rhythmic quality, mimicking the natural patterns found in a forest floor or a well-tended greenhouse. There is a quiet intensity to the way the greenery overlaps, building a visual language of growth and stillness. The choice of a square format anchors the organic chaos, providing a structured window into a world that feels vibrant, cool, and deeply rooted in the earth.
