In Lavender Morning Tea, the artist explores the intersection of two distinct mediums, allowing the bleeding edges of watercolour to meet the deliberate weight of oil. The composition leans into its portrait orientation, guiding the eye through a vertical arrangement of botanical forms that feel both structured and fleeting. Rather than a literal depiction, the work uses an abstract lens to capture the sensory experience of lavender—its scent and hue distilled into washes of colour.

This modern piece prioritizes the emotional resonance of the garden over precise botanical accuracy. The interplay of textures creates a tactile surface where the paint seems to breathe, mimicking the way morning light filters through foliage. It is a study in balance, grounding the airy qualities of the subject matter with the substantial presence of a physical painting.
