In this vertical composition, Marja van den Hurk explores the dense textures and saturated palettes found within a tropical thicket. The arrangement moves away from traditional, stiff tabletop displays, instead opting for a sense of found beauty where fruit and foliage intertwine. The brushwork emphasizes the physical presence of the harvest, capturing the varied surfaces of jungle produce against a backdrop of lush greenery.

By utilizing a portrait orientation, the artist draws the eye upward through a canopy of shapes, mimicking the natural growth patterns of the rainforest. The interplay of light and shadow across the fruit creates a rhythmic depth, inviting a close study of the shadows tucked between leaves and the vibrant skins of the central subjects. It is a grounded celebration of growth and the quiet, heavy stillness of a humid afternoon.
