Carruth uses the language of urban architecture and collage to illustrate the specific experience of the introvert, who feels the density of the world with a particular intensity. The composition reflects the moment when the truth becomes too disturbing to face openly, leading one to move through the world nearly hidden, seeking the safety of the anonymous crowd.
