This composition reimagines the traditional world map as a tactile, lived-in memory of a specific destination. By layering the heavy opacity of acrylic painting with the translucent washes of watercolour, the artist creates a visual depth that suggests both the physical structure of the city and the atmospheric haze of its coastal climate. The portrait orientation focuses the viewer’s eye on the verticality and compact nature of the region, emphasizing its unique position between land and sea.

The aesthetic leans into a vintage sensibility, utilizing a palette and distressing techniques that evoke mid-century travel posters. Instead of a sterile digital rendering, the work celebrates the imperfections of manual application, where pigment settles into the grain of the paper. It serves as a navigational piece that prioritizes mood and heritage over literal GPS accuracy, grounding the viewer in a sense of global exploration and historical charm.
