Art Analysis
From the artist, Yuli Saputra
The silent strength of geometry veiled in texture.
In this portrait-oriented work, Saputra explores the friction between order and chaos. The composition relies on a series of geometric patterns that are not immediately visible, instead acting as a subterranean foundation for the layers of pigment applied above. These shapes provide a sense of weight and stability, suggesting a physical presence that anchors the more expressive, tactile elements of the piece.
By blending a minimal aesthetic with rich texture, the artist creates a dialogue between what is seen and what is felt. The classic frame provides a formal boundary for this exploration, highlighting the contrast between the sharp internal logic of the hidden structure and the soft, atmospheric quality of the surface. It is a study in restraint, where the most powerful elements are those that remain partially obscured.
The work centers on a series of precise shapes that provide a rhythmic, architectural backbone to the composition.
The artist uses a restrained palette and focused forms to emphasize the physical quality of the medium.
The muted palette and clean aesthetic align with a functional, light-filled approach to modern living spaces.
