In this portrait-oriented map, Deificus employs a minimal aesthetic to define the coastal and inland borders of Maracaibo. By utilizing a bold, monochromatic palette against a clean background, the artist emphasizes the organic contours where the city meets the water, turning a navigational tool into a study of pure form. The lack of topographical clutter allows the viewer to focus on the specific, jagged character of the region’s perimeter.

This piece functions as a quiet tribute to travel and place, capturing the essence of a destination through its physical footprint. The digital medium ensures sharp, deliberate lines that lend the map a graphic clarity, making the familiar shape of the Venezuelan landscape feel both intimate and monumental. It is an exercise in subtraction, where the absence of detail highlights the strength of the remaining silhouette.
