In this landscape-oriented study, Marja van den Hurk explores the architecture of petals and stems. The wide format provides ample room for the floral subjects to breathe, emphasizing the natural rhythms and textures found within the arrangement. By focusing on the individual character of each bloom, the artist creates a sense of stillness that invites the viewer to notice the subtle transitions of color and form.

The composition avoids the clutter of traditional still life, opting instead for a clean, expansive view that honors the botanical subject as a singular portrait. The horizontal alignment anchors the visual weight, grounding the delicate floral elements within a stable and serene environment. It is a focused observation of nature that feels both intimate and expansive.
