In this composition, Rahner utilizes the familiar setting of a bathtub to anchor a surrealist vision, turning a routine space into a site of metamorphosis. The portrait orientation focuses the viewer’s gaze on the central figure, whose presence feels both ethereal and grounded. By leaning into a vintage texture, the artist strips away the modern world, allowing the viewer to engage with a scene that feels recovered from a lost, mystical archive.

The interplay of light and shadow across the water creates a tactile depth, emphasizing the physical reality of the photography while the subject matter pushes toward the impossible. There is a deliberate stillness here—a pause in time where the fairy-like qualities of the subject emerge not through grand spectacle, but through subtle, atmospheric storytelling. It is an exploration of the internal landscape, rendered with a gentle hand and a sharp eye for the uncanny.
