In this work, Daly departs from the monochromatic reality of the wild, instead dressing her subject in a spectrum of bright, alternating hues. The zebra’s form is simplified into soft curves and friendly features, making the animal feel approachable and full of personality. The repetition of the colorful bands creates a visual rhythm that moves the eye across the canvas, while the solid background allows the intricate patterns of the mane and body to stand out with clarity.

The squared orientation provides a stable, modern foundation for the whimsical subject matter, ensuring the composition feels intentional and contained. By focusing on the graphic quality of the zebra’s silhouette, Daly emphasizes the charm of illustration and the power of a saturated palette to evoke a lighthearted, cheerful atmosphere.
