Dixon draws from her upbringing on a farm in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales to translate the familiar form of a sheep into a structured, abstract landscape. The Swaledale Tup is built from a series of interlocking triangles, where watercolour washes of yellow, pink, purple, and teal bleed into one another. Sharp black lines define the animal’s features, providing a grounded contrast to the fluid, prismatic color palette.

The use of geometric abstraction creates a sense of order within the organic subject matter, reflecting a fresh approach to representational art.
