In this composition, Böhmer explores the tactile qualities of the shoreline, using a portrait orientation to emphasize the depth and layering of the coastal environment. The work moves away from literal representation, instead focusing on the tonal shifts and organic patterns created where the water meets the land. There is a sense of stillness in the arrangement, inviting a slow observation of the subtle gradients and grainy textures that define the beach setting.

The vertical perspective draws the eye through a series of horizontal bands, mimicking the natural recession of the horizon. By isolating these elements, the artist highlights the raw beauty of the materials themselves—the grit of the sand and the fluid motion of the tide. The result is a grounded study of place that feels both intimate and expansive, capturing the sensory essence of the coast without unnecessary ornamentation.
