Phillip Van

Phillip Van is a Vietnamese-American filmmaker and photographer based in Los Angeles. A graduate of NYU’s MFA program, Van has established a distinct presence in both the film and photography worlds, earning a Student Academy Award and being named one of Filmmaker Magazine's "25 New Faces of Independent Film." His work has been recognized at major international festivals, including Sundance, Telluride, and Berlin. Van’s photographic practice is defined by a diaristic approach, capturing the quiet, often overlooked moments of daily life. With work featured in publications such as Vogue and Rolling Stone, he utilizes natural light to frame his subjects, often focusing on the experiences of outsiders and the pervasive sense of longing that exists within the ordinary.
