Anton Ärlund is a Nashville-based artist whose multidisciplinary practice bridges the worlds of professional photography and fine art painting. Since 1998, he has built a career in portrait and fashion photography, working with international publications and musicians while teaching the craft for over fifteen years. After earning his MFA in Visual Arts from Watkins College of Art at Belmont University in 2020, Ärlund expanded his creative reach, integrating a deep academic foundation into his visual explorations. In 2022, Ärlund began an intensive transition into oil painting, using the medium as a tool for meditation and discovery. His canvases are informed by the traditions of Tonalism and Abstract Expressionism, focusing on the interplay between personal memory and physical environments. Today, his work remains a search for vulnerability, capturing the quiet tension that exists between public presence and private interiority.
