Skull Art

Skull Art

Symbols can be very powerful in art. Arguably none more so than the human or animal skull. Rather than just being morbid symbols however, Skull artworks can be used with great effect to decorate your living room.

Whatever style of room, we’ve got a stylish skull picture that fits. If monochrome is your style, check out this  black and white skull art print by  Ali Gulec . In fact this Turkish artist loves to work with skulls, and you can find the rest of his skull art collection on arthaus.

In some cultures skulls aren’t morbid symbols at all, but instead are celebrated like in Mexico where sugar skulls are decorated in garish colours and patterns to celebrate the annual Day of the Dead. Check out these mexican style skull artworks by  Vitor Costa , which come in 3 colours  Teal Blue and  Pink , and make for the perfect skull wall art set.

However, the symbolic meaning behind skulls has evolved over the years and these days we don’t need to find a deep meaning behind a piece of skull artwork; skull pictures have simply become cool. Quirky and whimsical pieces like this  Floral Skull piece by Ali Gulec or this  Skulls in Triangle artwork by  Balazs Solti see the skull used as a decorative figure, much like a geometric pattern or a flower for example.

And it’s not just human skulls that have gotten the art treatment. Animal skulls, once used as wall decor, can now be found on art prints and posters too. Like this  Go West Framed Artwork by  Terry Fan .

Finally, if you’re looking for something more surreal, this apocalyptic piece entitled  Rill Rill by Shorsh might just update an otherwise undramatic living space.

All of these artworks are available to buy as open editions art prints and framed art, with worldwide delivery.
