Nane Wenhammar is an artist whose practice is rooted in the tactile traditions of paper manufacturing and textile arts. Born in Quito and based in Mexico, she refined her craft through specialized workshops in painting with Ismael Ramos and gobelin fabrics with Bertha Preux. Her academic background in psychology and art therapy informs a disciplined yet expressive approach to physical materials, bridging the gap between technical mastery and psychological depth. A recipient of the Amateras Grand prize, her work is held in the permanent collections of the Fengxian Museum and the Directorate of Education and Culture of Cuenca. She continues to share her expertise through art history instruction and therapeutic workshops, maintaining a practice that values the intersection of education and creative production.

Visual voice

Wenhammar’s aesthetic is defined by the structural integrity of handmade paper and the rich textures of woven fabrics. Her work often bridges the gap between traditional fiber techniques and painterly expression, resulting in highly tactile, layered compositions.
