Christine Clark is a Portland, Oregon-based sculptor and installation artist whose practice is rooted in a deep understanding of materiality and spatial relationships. After earning her BFA from the University of Washington and an MFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Clark served as a professor and Head of the Metals department at the Oregon College of Art and Craft. Her professional career is marked by significant recognition, including two Oregon Arts Commission Fellowship Grants and residencies at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center and the Ucross Foundation. Working primarily with steel, wire, and cast elements such as concrete or resin, Clark investigates the interplay between volume and line. Her work often utilizes repetition and multiples to explore the abstraction of the human figure. As a member of the alternative installation space Nine Gallery, she continues to develop a body of work that balances industrial textures with rhythmic, organic compositions.

Visual voice

Clark’s aesthetic is defined by the tension between heavy cast masses and delicate wire frameworks. She uses repetitive structures and abstract figurative elements to explore how linear paths define three-dimensional space and volume.
