Butcher Billy

Born in Curitiba, Brazil, Billy Mariano da Luz—professionally known as Butcher Billy—is a graphic designer and visual artist whose career bridges the gap between pop culture and digital illustration. Since graduating from the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná, he has developed a signature approach that recontextualizes 1970s through 1990s nostalgia. His work often places real-world figures, from influential musicians to political leaders, into the vibrant, high-contrast frameworks of fictional universes. Billy’s distinctive style gained global attention through high-profile collaborations, including episodic posters for Netflix’s Black Mirror and Stranger Things. His work on the latter earned him a 2022 Gold Clio Entertainment Award, solidifying his place in the art world. With exhibitions spanning from London to Dubai and features in Rolling Stone and Wired, his collection offers a sharp, satirical look at the icons that define our collective memory.
